We were really pleased to secure the prestigious heating contract for Auto Factors, a worldwide vehicle parts distribution company looking for a sustainable heating solution to replace the oil boiler at their new parts and office facility in Nottingham.
We needed to come up with something flexible. The heating solution would have to deliver a breakdown-proof, 120kw heat load to environments with very different requirements – offices, board rooms, dispatch areas… A fully controllable biomass system made perfect sense from a cost saving and environmental point of view, so we set about designing the scheme.
A double biomass boiler installation = built in breakdown back-up
By installing two biomass boilers – one 50kw, the other 70kw – and a 1,500 litre buffer tank, we created a fail-proof solution. If either boiler goes offline – for servicing, or breakdown repair – the energy held in the buffer vessel combined with the power of the remaining boiler will meet the property’s heat load.
A Hoval installation, for reliability and performance
Working with the client, we chose two Hoval BioLyt boilers. Hoval have an amazing product portfolio and a reputation for reliability and performance, evidenced by the fact that they supply the royal households and many National Trust properties. Our system design gives long run times to the boilers, which is better for the lifespan of the equipment (less firing up means less wear) and much more cost-efficient.
A 20-year guaranteed income thanks to the RHI
Because we’re an MCS-accredited installer and Hoval supply MCS-accredited kit, the system qualifies for payments totalling £x15820 a year via the government’s Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI), which rewards businesses for using renewable products with tax-free tariff payments for 20 years.
When you take into account the savings made by replacing fuel with pellets, this adds up to a fantastic total saving and gain of £316,400 over the 20-year span of the scheme. Not to be sniffed at…
